FAQ's

Q - Which tartan can I wear?
A -
The answer to that question is simple: You can wear any tartan you like. You may occasionally come across someone with the opinion that you must only wear tartans associated with your family name. We respectfully disagree with that view which is a myth and not an actual rule. It is definitely recommended that you at least know the tartan you are wearing though.

If you are indeed wary about wearing another clans colors, we do supply many  universal tartans that are not associated with any clans. Pride of Scotland, Black Watch, Royal/Black Stewart etc. Send us a message and we will let you know what universal tartans we currently have available.

Q - I don't know my family tartan or which clan I fall into. Can you help?
A -
There are far too many names for us to list here. Please send us a message telling us your name and we will see what information we can find for you.

Q - I don't see that tartan I want on your website. Can you source it for me?
A - Unfortunately we do not provide tartans that are not listed on our website.

Q - I have found cheaper kilts elsewhere. I thought you were meant to be the most affordable?
A - There are definitely cheaper kilts to be found out there but they are exactly that......cheap. We have ordered some of these cheaper kilts from various companies to check their quality and we were not impressed. We are so confident in the quality of our products that we offer a money back guarantee so you can order from us knowing you're either going to love your product or get your money back with no questions asked.

Q - Why are some of your kilts priced at several hundred dollars?
A - We never used to offer the very expensive kilts. We only sold 'affordable kilts' but due to constant requests we finally agreed to sell the top, high end kilts. We flew to Scotland and had many meetings over there. We finally came to an agreement with various suppliers and kilt makers. These higher priced kilts should be seen as an investment rather than a purchase. If cared for properly, these heirloom quality kilts can be handed down from generation to generation. They will be around a lot longer than you!

Q - You offer many kilts over different price points. Which one should I go for?
A - We try to offer kilts for every budget so yes we do have many kilts with varying prices:

  • Our Deluxe Range - This is our top selling range by far and is the range that most of our amazing reviews are based on. These are (in our opinion and many of our customers) the best bang for buck kilts on the market anywhere. They are very well made, durable with a very nice weight to them. These are the kilts we would recommend if you are looking to dress up for a formal event without breaking the bank. If you wear kilts on a regular basis instead of pants, this is the kilt for you.

  • Our Casual Range - These are our entry level lightweight kilts. These are the kilts you would want to wear if you are going on a bachelor party or to a sporting event etc where spills can be expected. This is also the kilt you would want to wear if you are only just getting into wearing kilts and are maybe still a bit wary about doing so. Or if you live in one of the very hot states and want to keep cool this is the kilt for you.

  • Made in Scotland Ranges - Our very high end kilts. Yes these are definitely pricey but there is a very good reason for that. Each kilt is hand stitched to your specific measurements by very skilled hands using the finest wool. Each kilt can take about 30 hours + to make. These are heirloom quality kilts. If cared for properly these kilts will last for decades and can be passed down from generation to generation. Your great grandchildren (and much further beyond) could be the very proud owner of something you have brought into the family and maybe even wear it on their own wedding day. Wouldn't that be something special? These kilts should be seen as an investment rather than a purchase.

Q - How long will it be before I receive my order?
A - That depends on your order. We keep most of the accessories you see listed in stock ready to be shipped. Most kilts and skirts will be made to order as there are just too many possible variants (different material / different tartans/ different waist sizes / different drop lengths) to keep one of every size in stock ready to be shipped. We ask that you allow up to 10 weeks for your order to be produced and shipped if you are ordering from our 'Affordable Kilts' section. Our 'made in Scotland' ranges can take anywhere from 12-20 weeks but in most cases it will be a lot less than these suggested waiting times. We do keep some kilts in stock in ready to go though. Please contact us if you need something in a hurry and we'll let you know what we have. These waiting periods are pretty standard for any kilt company.

Q - Where are you located and do you have physical location?
A - We operate from Vancouver, BC. We do not have a physical location. Please call us at 604-362-8485.
